Celebrating Argentine Excellence in Film

#LACFest2017 (the Latin American and Caribbean Cultural Festival) started off on Monday 27th November 2017 with presentations from the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Saint Lucia.

This festival, already in it's third year and spearheaded by the five Latin American Embassies in Saint Lucia; Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico and Venezuela in collaboration with local corporate partners seeks to deepen awareness and understanding of the similarity of the cultures of the people of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The festival was officially opened on the evening of Monday 27th November, at Caribbean Cinemas in Choc Bay, Castries. The Honourable Governor General of Saint Lucia, Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy in her capacity as LACFest patron, in a small cocktail to mark the occasion, commented on how important the cultural exchange aspect of the event was, not only to gain a glimpse of how cultures may vary but to also assist in grasping new languages. 

In the theatre, the proceeding began with a PSA by the St Lucian Audio-Visual and Film Association and various short films and clips produced by Saint Lucians. It was then followed by a promotional video showing the beauty of Argentine as a tourist destination. At approximately 6:30PM the screening of the feature film "Metegol / Foosball" by award winning Argentine producer Juan José Campanella.
