The Argentine Embassy Celebrates the 205th Anniversary of the May Revolution

On Tuesday May 26th, the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Saint Lucia celebrated the 205th anniversary of the May Revolution (May 25th 1810), to commemorate the events of 1810 which led to the first autonomous government in Buenos Aires and culminated with the emancipation of Argentina from Spanish colonial rule.

The reception, held at the Saint Lucian Golf and Country Club, was hosted by Ambassador Luis Martínez Thomas, and honoured by the presence of H.E. the Governor General, high government authorities, diplomatic corps, and other distinguished guests.

The event featured live folklore and tango performances by dancers Oscar Caballero and Karel Wolberg, and musicians Lorena Guillén and Alejandro Rutty, followed by a photographic exhibition of artist Palmiro Bedeschi, and, finally, a wine tasting accompanied by traditional "empanadas" (Argentine meat pies).

The Embassy of Argentina wishes to take this opportunity to thank all the guests for their presence, and especially the ad honorem participation of musicians Lorena Guillén and Alejandro Rutty, Ms. Ana Teresa Polyte, students from the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, and  "CPJ Wines", for the generous donation of Argentine wines.
