The Argentine Republic, in association with the Republic of Chile, acting as the Gender Chapter Coordinators of the CELAC-EU Dialogue, will be hosting a Workshop on Preventing Gender Based Violence: Prevention Policies and Male Education will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on September 28-29th, 2017.
As its main goal, the Workshop aims at contributing to the debate on models for the prevention of gender based violence, in all its forms up to its most extreme one, femicide. On a more precise note, the focus will be placed on prevention and male education policies.
In addition, the Workshop is intended to provide an interactive space where experiences can be shared among different countries, with both regions having the opportunity to share their breakthroughs in public policies related to gender based violence prevention focused on male education, to foster the identification of coordinated and shared relevant actions within the bilateral, regional and bi-regional cooperation programs between CELAC and the EU, to promote synergies among its participants and cooperation with the civil society, and to strengthen cooperation between International Organizations and civil society networks, as well as the Dialogue conceived under the Sustainable Development Goals, more precisely under Goal N°5.
Through the coordination of the Argentine Embassy in Saint Lucia, Representatives from Saint Lucia and Saint Christopher and Nevis travelled on Tuesday September 26th to Buenos Aires to participate in the 3 day workshop.
