LACFest 2016 (The Latin American and Caribbean Cultural Festival) started off on Monday 7th November 2016 with presentations from the Embassy of the Argentine Republic to Saint Lucia and the OECS.

This initiative, spearheaded by the five Latin American Embassies in Saint Lucia; Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico and Venezuela in collaboration with the Government of Saint Lucia, now in its second year, seeks to deepen awareness and understanding of the similarity of the cultures of the people of Latin America and the Caribbean.

On the morning of Monday 7th November, the Argentine Embassy, hosted Spanish students from the Clendon Mason Memorial Secondary School, Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School, Grande Riviere Secondary School and Ciceron Secondary School, for the screening of the animated film under the direction of Andrés G. Shaer; “El Raton Pérez 2 / The Hairy Tooth Fairy”.

Upon arrival at the evening screening, patrons were invited to taste Argentine Wines courtesy of CPJ Wines Ltd. An exhibition of photographs by Palmiro Bedeschi and reproductions of the artwork of Florencio Molina Campos and Nora Iniesta was on display. Mr. McDonald Dixon then presented a captivating literary piece by the esteemed Argentine author Jorge Luis Borges. The feature presentation “El Secreto de Sus Ojos / The Secret in Their Eyes” is a 2010 Academy Award winning mystery thriller under the direction of Juan J Campanella and starring Ricardo Darin who was ranked as number 12 best actor in the world by the American Film Institute in August 2016.
